One trade, two materials
Concrete and asphalt look like different trades from the outside. They are not. Both are porous surfaces sitting outdoors in a climate that rains on them most of the year, and both fail from the top down when water gets in. The work is the same in shape: clean it back to something sound, repair what has already gone, then put a protective layer over it that keeps water out.
That is why we do both. It means one crew can look at your garage floor and your driveway on the same visit and tell you which one actually needs money spent on it this year. It also means we are not incentivised to sell you the one product we happen to carry.
What we do not do is pour new concrete, lay new asphalt, excavate, or do foundation work. If a surface is past treating, we will say so, and we will not take the job as a coating instead.
Preparation is the whole argument
Almost every coating failure we get called to look at is a preparation failure. A floor that was acid etched instead of ground. A slab that was never tested for moisture. A crack that got skimmed over instead of routed out. The product on top was usually fine, and it had nothing to hold on to.
So preparation is where our time goes and where our estimates are most detailed. You will see the grinding, the crack routing, the patching and the moisture reading written out as separate lines, precisely so you can compare our quote against a cheaper one and see what the cheaper one is not doing.
It is not a sales position. It is the only part of the job that decides whether you are calling somebody about this floor again in three years.
What we will tell you that a salesperson will not
Sometimes the answer is wait
If the moisture reading is high or the slab is too new, the right move is a mitigating primer or a later date. We would rather reschedule you than coat a floor that will lift.
Sometimes the answer is no
A slab that has heaved or crumbled through its depth is not a coating job. Neither is a lot whose base has failed. We do not do replacement work, so we have no reason to soften that.
Sometimes a kit is fine
A dry, clean, well-prepared slab in a low-traffic garage can carry a hardware-store coating for a few years. If that is your situation and your budget, we will say so.
How we handle enquiries
Everything comes through the form on this site. That is deliberate. A form gives us the surface, the size, the town and what is actually wrong with it, in writing, before anyone spends time on a call, and it means nothing gets lost on a voicemail while a crew is running a grinder.
We come back to arrange a site assessment. That visit is where we measure, read the moisture in the slab and look at the condition properly. The written estimate follows the visit, never precedes it, because a price given before anyone has stood on the surface is a price for a surface that does not exist.
